In search of intel

Quiet. As usual. You could smell the dignity and snobism in the air. It was rather sickening.

Mayuri could easily seperate and measure different types of reitasu. In fact, he was so skilled at it, that he could tell the exact difference in reiatsu in a matter of numbers or percentages, without the need of any type of machinery. He just sees the equations and the answers before his eyes, as if he is obsessed.

He was walking down the wooden floor, to his right were the living rooms, to the left, the yard. It was early morning, so everyone was likely asleep.

He distinguished the reiatsu he needed, and moved towards the door of one of the living rooms. He pushed the door aside and entered the room.

"Abarai Renji, wake up!"

Abarai Renji could at times be an extremely lazy individual, provided what he was doing wasn't geared towards fighting or getting better at fighting. However, he was also a Shinigami, and a damn good one at that.

So when he heard his name shouted, he reacted instinctively and with lightning speed. Although he had been asleep just moments before, his hand reached for his Zanpuktoh and he leaped out of bed, baring the weapon at the throat of the person who had disturbed his sleep.

"Kurotsuchi," he growled. "What are you doing in my squad's barracks at this ungodly hour? Oh, and you might want to say it quickly. My hand just might 'accidentally' slip and remove your creepy face from its body."

"Now now, no need to get violent." the ex-captain smirked.

"I just came here, for some...information on a certain...individual." Mayuri walked around the room in circles saying so, and glared at Renji's eyes, carefully looking at his expression.

Renji lowered his Zanpuktoh, though his eyes continued to glare daggers at Kurosutchi. Though the loyalties of Kurosutchi had never been questioned, everyone was aware that he had never been the most ethical individual. A stay in prison had done nothing to quell that. However, Kurosutchi's technological genius was unrivaled, so the other shinigami were forced to tolerate him.

The other shinigami hadn't even bothered to raise his own zanpuktoh to parry. Arrogant, as always. Or perhaps he simply was working on some new defensive technology that could deflect Zanpuktoh attacks.

"Information? On whom?" Renji asked, trying to shake the cobwebs from his mind. "You know anything pertaining to information on members of my squad is considered classified unless you have a good reason. And at any rate, I would need permission from the Captain to even talk about such matters." Renji hoped this wasn't another request to let him examine Ichigo's Quincy friend. Ishida had told them about their fight, and said he considered Kurosuchti a "shinigami version of Dr. Frankenstein." Abarai wasn't certain what that meant, but it didn't sound like a good thing. He supposed he could understand- he didn't like visits to the doctor, either.
